House NV Milna

The house is conceived as a luxury summer family residence. It is vertically divided with a stone pedestal (basement) on top of which floats a white volume that encapsulates all living areas of the house. Within the basement’s stone walls there is a winter entrance, guest room with a yard and all other auxiliary facilities (warehouse, service, wellness, gym, wine cellar).  Upper floors are meant for the family’s stay.  The interior spaces are designed in a way that connects with the exterior reducing the boundaries between them. Intention is to use the house areas as open space for most of the year’s time.  All the external areas still ensure the interior quality intimacy by showing it’s own importance in house functionality. The object honors the stone craft tradition of the Brač island by using fine hand-carved stone elements as contrast to the crudeness of concrete and the natural stone that will decorate the garden and lower building parts.
